Bill
Brauch Named Winner of Marvin Award
Director
of the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division to be Honored by
the National Association of Attorneys General.
Bill Brauch, Director
of the Consumer Protection Division of the Iowa Attorney General's Office,
will receive the Ray Marvin Award conferred by the National Association
of Attorneys General. The award will be presented Friday at the Association's
summer meeting.
The award recognizes
persons who have "committed an extraordinary amount of time, talent,
and energy" to achieve outstanding results of national impact for
the states and the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG.)
"Bill has worked
tirelessly on behalf of consumers in Iowa and everywhere," said Attorney
General Tom Miller. "He has done excellent work especially on behalf
of older Iowans and in cooperative efforts among states. We are able to
do so much more for our citizens when states work together, and Bill has
a long history of leading multi-state actions that help Iowans and people
all over the country." Brauch is a national expert on consumer protection
in automobile sales and auto salvage laws, and is very involved in advertising
and e-commerce issues. He is member of the Iowa Governor's Privacy Task
Force.
Brauch has been an
Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division since 1987.
He was named Director of the Division in 1995. Brauch is a native of Waukesha,
Wisconsin. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee
and he graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College
of Law.
